Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a low-impact exercise method that focuses on core strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness. It emphasizes controlled movements, proper alignment, and breathing to improve posture, muscle tone, and balance.

Is Pilates suitable for beginners?

Yes! Pilates is ideal for all fitness levels. Our classes are designed to accommodate beginners with modifications and guidance, while also offering challenges for more experienced participants.

What’s the difference between mat Pilates and reformer Pilates?

Mat Pilates uses just a mat and your body weight for resistance. Reformer Pilates involves a special machine with springs and pulleys to add resistance and support. Both methods strengthen the core and improve flexibility.

Class & Booking Information

How do I book a class?

You can book a class directly through our website by visiting the Classes page or through your mindbody account.

What should I bring to my first class?

Just bring yourself, a water bottle, and a towel. If you’re attending a mat class, feel free to bring your own mat; however, we have them in case you need a backup. For reformer classes, grippy socks are required for hygiene and safety.

How long are the classes?

All classes are 50 minutes long. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early, especially if it’s your first visit.

Health & Safety

Can I do Pilates if I have an injury or medical condition?

Always consult your doctor first. Many Pilates exercises can be adapted for injuries or conditions, and our instructors are trained to offer modifications, but we need to be aware of your limitations.

Is Pilates safe during pregnancy?

Yes, with modifications, all of our instructors are certified to work with pregnant clients. Please consult your doctor before starting any new fitness routine during pregnancy.

Membership & Pricing

Do you offer packages or memberships?

Yes, we offer single classes, and class packages. Visit our Classes page for full details and current specials.

How long do I have to use my package?

All packages expire 30 days after your first session with us.

What’s your cancellation policy?

We kindly ask that you cancel at least 24 hours before class to avoid a late cancellation fee. This helps us offer spots to others on the waitlist.

Is it possible to get a refund for a package?

Class purchases are non-refundable unless due to double charges or class package exchanges.

Results & Expectations

How often should I do Pilates to see results?

For best results, we recommend 2–3 sessions per week. Consistency is key, and many clients notice improved strength and posture within a few weeks.

Will Pilates help me lose weight?

Pilates can support weight loss by improving muscle tone and increasing body awareness, but it’s most effective when combined with a healthy diet and other forms of exercise.

Events

Do I need to register in advance?

Pre-registration is recommended, especially for popular events with limited space. Walk-ins are welcome if space allows, but we can’t guarantee a spot without registration.

How much does it cost?

Pricing varies by event. All events are posted on our Events tab on our website. Visit the event listing for detailed pricing information.

Are the events suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! Our Pilates events are designed to be inclusive for all levels, including beginners. Instructors will offer modifications and guidance throughout the session.

What should I bring to the Pilates event?

When an event is announced, we typically state what to bring in the descriptions. Pilates mats are always available for a small rental fee.

Can I host my own event?

Yes, FOUR Pilates would love to help you host your event. All events take place outside of normal business hours. Please email [email protected] for more information.
